New Year of a few religions in India:
There are numerous days throughout the year celebrated
as New Year's Day in the different regions of India.
1.NANAKSHAHI NEW YEAR: The Nanakshahi calendar is a
tropical solar calendar used in Sikhism. It is based on the "Barah
Maha" (twelve month).The New Year of Sikhism begins with the
month of Chet on March 14 every year.
2.PUTHANDU: Puthandu (Tamil: தமிழ்ப்புத்தாண்டு), also
known as Puthuvarudam or Tamil New Year, is the first day of
year on the Tamil calendar and tradi�onally celebrated as a
fes�val.The fes�val date is set with the solar cycle of the lunisolar
Hindu calendar.
3.UGADI: Ugadi (Ugādi, Samvatsarādi, Yugadi) is the New Year's
Day for the States of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in
India.It is fes�vely observed in these regions on the first day of
the Hindu Ugadi.
4.BALIPRATIPADA: In many parts of India such as Gujarat and
Rajasthan, it is the regional tradi�onal New Year Day in Vikram
Samvat and also called the Bestu Varas or Varsha Pra�pada.
5.GUDI PAWDA: Gudhi Padwa is a spring-�me fes�val that marks
the tradi�onal new year for Marathi and Konkani Hindus.It is
celebrated in and near Maharashtra and Goa to mark the
beginning of the New year.
6.NAVREH: Navreh,Kashmiri New Year is the celebra�on of the
first day of the Kashmiri new year by Kashmiri Hindus.The word
'Navreh' is derived from Sanskrit 'Nava Varsha' meaning the New
Year.
