The humble beginning of Sherwood Public School took place on 21st June 1984 in a rental building in Secunderabad. A long awaited dream of an educationist couple came true with just 51 children and 5 teachers.
Mr. Yogendra K Gurwara and Mrs. Jyoti Gurwara, after working in renowned schools across the country, had finally put together enough resources and help from friends and family to start their own school with a mission to provide all-round and wholesome education to children.
The school got itself affiliated in 1988, with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi - one of the most prestigious Examining Boards of the country for ICSE (X) and ISC (XIl) Examinations.
Brick by brick, year after year, the school grew and more parents found comfort in its stress-free educational philosophy and the transparent, open-hearted temperament of its founding couple.
Apart from the focus on academics, In order to provide better facilities in games, sports and other extracurricular activities, the school shifted to its own 4-acre campus near Kompally in 1991.
Sherwood’s large & green 4-acre campus is an oasis of calm between the bustling and fast developing area of Kompally, Secunderabad. The campus boasts of a huge playground, spacious, ventilated and well-lit classrooms, science laboratories, well stocked library, computer labs, music room, a multi-purpose auditorium, basketball court, cricket nets, and a unique Outdoor Learning Centre.
As of 2023, thousands of students have passed the gates of the school to become valuable additions to society, across the world. The school and its 100-strong staff proudly educate about 1150 students each year.
